Teddington River Festival & Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station Open Day
Sunday 8 September 2013, 12.00 – 6.00pm
The Teddington River Festival is returning to Teddington Lock on Sunday 8 September. Incorporating the annual Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station Open Day, the festival offers a fantastic day of free family fun upstream and downstream, both on and off the water and The Lensbury Watersports Team will be there in full force. As a primary sponsor of the festival, they will be offering complimentary boat rides, kayaking, fun with the Human Fruit Machine and an opportunity to catch up with Mark and The Lensbury Watersports Team. Mark Hughes, Watersports Manager, said “Everyone loves adventures on the river, with our local school activities about to take off we see the festival as the launch of our outreach programme and a great opportunity to demonstrate the easy accessibility of Thames water sports.”
Spanning both sides of the river The Festival will host live music, boat rides, boats on display, kayaking, skiff racing, craft, charity & community stands, face painting, fairground rides, food & refreshments, water safety road shows, wildlife displays and RNLI stands including souvenirs, books and glassware as well as children’s games and a model boat display. Visitors will also be able to meet and greet the Teddington lifeboat crew, climb aboard a lifeboat and watch the crew in action during a series of river rescue demonstrations.
The Festival, which is a charitable community event forms part of The Lensbury’s corporate social responsibility plan and on-going 94 year commitment to involvement in the community. Three worthy charities will benefit, the RNLI, the River Thames Boat Project and The Lensbury’s chosen charity Chordoma UK.
The Lensbury Watersports Centre offer a range of activites from Sailing to Kayaking and motor boat hire for all ages and abilities. The Centre also offer great event ideas for birthday parties and teambuilding. For more more details please click here.
