The countdown is well and truly underway to one of the world’s greatest sporting events; the Rugby World Cup. The opening game will see hosts England take on Fiji at Twickenham on Saturday, September 19th.
At The Lensbury, members and guests will have already noticed the tell-tale signs of increasing activity, as the club gets ready to become a Rugby World Cup 2015 Team Base. Two of the giants of international rugby, South Africa and New Zealand will be based at the club during the tournament. Both teams are amongst the favourites to lift the Webb Ellis Cup.
The new purpose built Heavy Weights Room was recently opened by former England skipper Bill Beaumont, alongside the newly elected MP for Twickenham, Dr Tania Mathias.
The gym and its equipment have been designed to put the ‘big men’ of the Rugby world in tip top condition for the tournament. But as The Lensbury General Manager Ivor Turner pointed out, “This is a facility for personal training for our members as well as for elite level athletes.”
The Rugby pitch is also getting an overhaul with improved drainage and a reworked playing surface. “We want to show our guests that our attention to detail is something that sets The Lensbury apart,” added Ivor Turner. “We also want our members to be proud of our club and the top class facilities that we have to offer.”
