Refurbishment frequently asked questions

With the opening of Phase 1, there will be transitional arrangements in the usage of the Ground Floor, while the builders move onto the refurbishment of the Conservatory and Playroom.

1. Where is the Playroom?
This is the new name for the Soft Play area. When this is refurbished it will have new soft play equipment and a Food and Beverage service point.

2. The old Terrace counter is gone – where do I go to get a cup of coffee or order food?
The Lounge (area coloured in yellow on the attached plans) has two service points (at busy times) – one at the Bar (to your right as you enter this area) and one to the left near the Playroom.

3. What food is available now?
The Lensbury will be serving the transitional menu for the next two months in the Lounge. Additional seating will be added to the Playroom, to provide the same amount of seating as we have at present.

This will change, at the beginning of July, when we launch the new Dunbar Restaurant, with seated service, set lunch and dinner service hours. The Foyer, Conservatory and Bar will have a separate, all day menu available. The new Playroom will also offer the all-day menu plus the “grab and go” style of food and drinks.

4. Where can I get an alcoholic drink?
Alcoholic beverages are available in the Bar from 11am – 11pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm – 11pm on a Sunday.

5. How long will the Conservatory be closed?
This area will be closed for six weeks from 2 April and will reopen on 10 May. We are installing new heating, cooling and ventilation systems as well as a full redecoration of the room and a re-positioning of the entrance ramp.

6. How long will the Playroom be closed?
The work in this room will take place in a “two part build”. The whole area will be closed from 12th May through to 3rd June. Half of the room will re-open with the new soft play equipment and access through to the main Lounge area.

The remaining half of the Playroom will remain closed while the builders put the finishing touches to the new food counter. The new Playroom will open on 25th June.

We will also be refurbishing the corridor into the Grounds, next door to the Playroom, with access to the Grounds through the main Lounge and Conservatory.

7. What play facilities will be on offer over the Whitsun school holidays?
A “Play Bus” will be available from 17th to 31st May. The bus can accommodate 25 children at once and will be supervised by Lensbury staff.

8. Where can I leave a buggy?
Buggy users may leave their buggies in the Play Room. While this area is closed for refurbishment, a section of the Lounge will be made available for buggy users.

9. Where is the adult only area?
The Bar is allocated for adults only (16 years and over) and in early July the Bar will be expanded, once the Family Lounge comes back into use.

10. Where can I watch television?
There are two televisions – one in the Bar and one in the Lounge where sports can be viewed from 2 April until 10 May. Once the Conservatory is back in use, a third television will be in this area. An additional television will be in the Play Room, when this
area is completed.

11. Where are the Honours Boards going to go?
When the Members’ Reception is refurbished in the summer (following Summer Ball) the Honours Boards will be relocated into this area.
