Class Descriptions

Aerobics

  • Aimed at all fitness levels, Aerobics is split into two sections with the first 40 minutes consisting of aerobic work using fun and simple choreography and the second section involving 20 minutes of toning and shaping with light weights

Aqua-dynamics

  • Aqua-dynamics utilises the water’s resistance to tone, strengthen and improve cardiovascular conditioning while reducing stress impact on joints, bones and muscles. Please note: You must be able to swim to participate.

Ashtanga Yoga

  • Ashtanga Yoga is a more physically demanding style of Yoga that builds strength, stamina, along with fitness and core stability by following a specific vigorous sequence of postures.

Back to Fitness

  • This remedial class, held in conjunction with the Back Pain Association, aims to help your condition after therapy, improving general flexibility, strength and co- ordination.

Beginners Pilates

  • An introduction to Pilates to demonstrate its benefits in releasing muscular tension, enhancing mobility and improving postural alignment.

Body Attack

  • BODYATTACK is a high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. A LES MILLS instructor will pump out energizing tunes and lead you through the workout – challenging your limits in a good way, burning up to 730 calories and leaving you with a sense of achievement.

Body Balance

  • Ideal for anyone and everyone, BODYBALANCEis the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. During BODYBALANCE an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. You’ll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centred.

Body Combat

  • Step into a BODYCOMBAT workout and you’ll punch and kick your way to fitness, burning up to 740 calories along the way. This high-energy martial-arts inspired workout is totally non-contact and there are no complex moves to master. A LES MILLS instructor will challenge you to up the intensity and motivate you to make the most of every round. You’ll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ.

Body Conditioning

  • A toning class for all abilities. Body Conditioning starts with a warm up and is followed by toning exercise for the whole body, including arms, chest and back, legs, thighs, butt and, of course, tummies.

Body Pump

  • BODYPUMP is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 540 calories. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

Bootcamp

  • Challenge yourself with this fast- paced, calorie-blasting workout, using the traditional Boot Camp style approach. Boot Camp is geared toward all fitness levels and will see improvements in strength and fitness.

Boxfit

  • BoxFit is a high-energy workout that incorporates solid pad work, weight training and conditioning, functional and circuit training with an emphasis placed on boxing.

Circuits

  • A multi-station workout for all incorporating strength work, agility drills and core stability training.

CXWORX

  • Exercising muscles around the core, CXWORX provides the vital ingredient for a stronger body. A stronger core makes you better at all things you do, from everyday life to your favourite sports – it’s the glue that holds everything together. All the moves in CXWORX have options, so it’s challenging but achievable for your own level of fitness. During the 30-minute workout trained instructors guide you through correct technique as you work with resistance tubes and weight plates, as well as body weight exercises like crunches, and hovers. You will also get into some hip, butt and lower back exercises.

Dance Motivation

  • A fun low-impact class for all levels and ages. Easy to follow dance steps compiled into mini routines. Themes vary from pop chart, Latino, belly and line dancing, modern jazz and rock & roll.

Deep Work Water

  • The class utilises the water’s resistance to tone, strengthen and improve cardio vascular conditioning while reducing stress impact on joints, bones and muscles whilst in deep water.

Dynamic Pilates

  • NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS. A challenging Pilates class for those who already have experienced level of Pilates and are looking to progress their Pilates further. Total body workout that builds long, lean muscles. Improves strength, flexibility, endurance and posture using equipment such as hand weights, leg weights, soft balls, BOSU and foam rollers.

Family Bootcamp (8+)

  • Bring your family and enjoy our Bootcamp class adjusted to suit members aged 8 years old plus. This is a seasonal class that runs throughout the summer in The Lensbury grounds.

Family Cycling (8+)

  • A fun filled, family cycling class utilising the MyRide Virtual system. Participants must be ages 8 or older and be accompanied by an adult. Please be aware that acceptance into this class is dependent on limb length and is subject to the instructors assessment at the beginning of the class.

Family Yoga (8+)

  • An introduction to Hatha Yoga for all ages above 8 years old. All members under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Fitness Clinic

  • A gentle introduction to the gym equipment for anyone with health concerns or requiring rehabilitation following an injury or illness.

Fitsteps

  • Mix of the graceful steps of ballroom and the up tempo steps of the Latin dances together to create a really fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit and keep trim that would appeal to everyone, even if they couldn’t dance. Dances include the Cha Cha, Jive, Waltz, Quickstep, Tango and many more!

Gym Fit Club

  • An ideal introduction to the gym equipment for anyone with health concerns or requiring rehabilitation following an injury or illness.

Hatha Yoga

  • Hatha Yoga refers to any sequence of physical postures so instructors are able to design their own workouts.

Health for Life

  • Aimed at helping those who would like to enjoy life more by improving flexibility, increasing vitality and helping to keep fit through gentle stretching and strengthening exercises.

Hi Energy AM

  • Hi and low impact calorie-burning aerobic session with muscle toning, strengthening and conditioning.

Jivamukti Yoga

  • A style of Yoga that incorporates chanting, meditation and music into a vigorous flowing Vinyasa.

K.A.R.B.

  • A freestyle twist on the traditional LBT class; K.A.R.B is specially designed to target the most requested areas from the waist down! A simple to follow aerobic warm-up with a mix of delivery styles to tone, sculpt and strengthen.

Latin and Ballroom

  • Join our Ballroom and Latin dance classes for adults and children from complete beginners to advanced dancers. Individuals or couples are welcome! Learn to dance all Ballroom and Latin dances.

Latin/Ballroom Practice

  • A member led session to practice the skills and routines learnt during the Wednesday Latin and Ballroom class.

Legs, Bums and Tums

  • This class has a hi/low impact calorie-burning aerobic section with muscle toning, strengthening and conditioning for legs, bums & tums.

Les Mills Tone

  • LES MILLS TONE is the original 3 in 1 training style – a mix of cardio, resistance and core while playing with different training concepts to ensure everyone gets the best results from their workouts. The challenging mix of lunges, squats, functional training and tubing exercises will help you burn calories and take your fitness to the next level.

Meditation & Relax

  • A class that teaches different techniques of relaxation and meditation to help us live more meaningful lives of satisfaction, well-being and happiness.

Modified Pilates

  • A highly beneficial mat work class designed to release muscular tension, enhance mobility, improve core strength and postural alignment and overall relaxation; and further challenge, core endurance, co-ordination and balance. This Pilates is specifically designed for those with injuries or illnesses.

MyRide – Virtual Coach

  • Immersive on-screen coach workouts delivering results. Riding to world – class instruction and chart – quality music.

MyRide – Virtual Tour

  • Terrain-focused footage from all over the world paired with chart-quality music and world- class voice-over coaching delivers fun yet fierce workouts. The exclusive, speed interacting scenery is stunning. Participants ride it like they see it.

Meditation – Yoga Nidra

  • Also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, Yoga Nidra is an ancient that is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness.

Nordic Walking

  • Nordic walking is a total body version of walking that can be enjoyed both by non-athletes as a health-promoting physical activity, and by athletes as a sport. The activity is performed with specially designed walking poles similar to ski poles.

Outdoor Bootcamp

  • Challenge yourself with this fast- paced, calorie-blasting workout, using the traditional Boot Camp style approach, utilising the Lensbury All Weather Pitch and Grounds. Boot Camp is geared toward all fitness levels and will see improvements in strength and fitness.

Pilates

  • A highly beneficial mat work class designed to release muscular tension, enhance mobility, improve core strength and postural alignment and overall relaxation; and further challenge, core endurance, co-ordination and balance.  Small equipment such as blocks, balls, bands or hand weights may be used to add variety or offer support during the class.

Pilates on the Ball

  • A challenging and rewarding class using the stability ball to help improve flexibility, balance, co-ordination and core strength. Most suited to those confident with the Pilates method.

Step

  • Based on stepping up and down around a small step, which helps to shape and tone the legs as well as burn fat. A fun workout, where advanced steppers and beginners can all work together.

Studio Cycling

  • Our cycling classes are exciting and challenging. Our instructors will take you through a new terrain every week and customise an AMAZING soundtrack for your workout to increase your energy, cardiovascular fitness and lower body strength.

Sunrise Yoga

  • Hatha Yoga but simply early morning. This can consist of any sequence of physical postures so instructors are able to design their own workouts.

Tai Chi

  • The ancient Chinese form of moving meditation, based on the understanding that all things of harmony relate to the two complementary forces of Yin & Yang.​

Top to Toe

  • A class designed to work the arms, abdominals, bottoms and legs with a low impact cardio section at the beginning to work the heart as well.

Vinyasa Yoga

  • Focuses on linking breath with mindful flow. A form of Yoga where you fluidly move from one pose to the next, working on strength and flexibility.

Water Fitness

  • Fun and easy way to exercise with less impact on the body. Suits all ages (16+) and abilities, the class ranges from aerobics, aqua Latino, aqua bands and circuit workouts.

Zumba

  • ZUMBA fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness programme that will blow you away.
